BIAT Services

The increasing demand for the services
BIAT provides throughout the State
exceeds the current funding allocation
.”

Disability Services, September 2003

The level of funding provided to specialist ABI services in Tasmania is grossly inadequate to meet the current demand of existing clients let alone address the huge level of unmet need of people living with an ABI today and into the future. People with acquired brain injury in Tasmania urgently require a real commitment from the Tasmanian Government to develop and appropriately resource a service system which addresses their current and future needs.

BIAT is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people living with and affected by acquired brain injury. It has a role as the spearhead for a strong and active lobby, which will have effective influence on the policy and funding decisions of Government relating to acquired brain injury. BIAT will achieve this by:

  • Demonstrating strong leadership in policy development, advocacy and sector development;
  • Actively representing the interests and needs of people living with and affected by brain injury to government, services and the community;
  • Contributing to research and policy development;
  • As a member of Brain Injury Australia, referring key state issues to the national agenda
